Frederick County is a county located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Maryland, bordering the southern border of Pennsylvania and the northeastern border of Virginia. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, the population was 233,385. It is a part of the Washington Metropolitan Area, yet is also sometimes recognized as part of Western Maryland. The county is home to Catoctin Mountain Park (encompassing the presidential retreat Camp David) and to the U.S. Army’s Fort Detrick. The county seat is Frederick, which was home to several celebrated historical figures like Francis Scott Key, Thomas Johnson, Roger B. Taney, and Barbara Fritchie. READ MORE>>

Frederick County Farm Safety Camp 

The 22nd annual Frederick County Farm Safety Camp was held July 6-8, 2017 at Camp Round Meadows.  The 55 campers in attendance enjoyed activities that included Beekeeping, Wildlife Safety, Fishing Safety, Horse Dentistry, Snake Safety and Food Safety.  Miss Maryland Agriculture, Megan Millison presented on helmet safety.  Safety on the farm is always an interesting conversation with campers.  This year, possible accidents were demonstrated with foam people.  The farming accidents showcased this year included PTO, Manure Spreader and Snow Blower.  Mark you calendar for next year! The 2018 Safety camp will be held June 28-July 1, 2018.

Through hard work, strong support and dedication, the agriculture community is receiving a greater voice with the Frederick County Board of Education (BOE) Ag education program. As many of you know, the ag community received quite a wake‐up call in the spring of 2008, when the BOE cut the funding to build an ag mechanics and woodworking building at the Oakdale High School.
